WALLINGFORD –The Wallingford community came together to provide handicap accessible transportation to an 11-year-old boy, battling a form of muscular dystrophy.

The community held a big reveal on Wednesday, during which a handicap accessible van was provided to Anthony Soto. Community members held a number of fundraisers over the past few months and raised over $23,000 for the van, which Harte Auto Group of Meriden provided at dealer cost.

Soto’s mother, Mayline Preston said she was surprised and thankful.

Soto was diagnosed with Duchenne’s Muscualr Dystrophy at the age of three. Soto’s mother is positive for her son. “I met someone at the pancake breakfast that we had and her brother’s 45 with the same condition,” said Preston.
