Andrew Samuolis, 34, was charged with shooting an officer in the arm and leading police on a chase through Willimantic. Police responded to a home on Tunxis Lane for a well-being check and found a man dead there. That’s where Samuolis first fired on officers.
After the chase, a police dog caught up with Samuolis and officers were able to take him into custody. He was treated and released at Windham Hospital.
State Police Lt. J. Paul Vance said Samuolis has been charged with breach of peace and interfering with police, but more charges are liekly to be filed as the investigation continues. Bail was set at $1 million and Samuolis is scheduled to appear in Danielson Superior Court Wednesday morning.
