BRISTOL – Aaron Hernandez is known for more than being a New England Patriot. Hernandez calls Bristol his home, and played football at Bristol Central High School.

Aaron Hernandez played numerous games at Muzzy Field in Bristol, but now the community is trying to deal with the murder charges against the football player.

Friend and former teammate, Jordan Carello, grew up with Hernandez and played beside him at Bristol Central High School.

Hernandez was a tight end and Carello was a center.

“I think I was one of the first to tell him ‘you’re going to make it, you’re going to make it to the NFL,’ and he wold always say ‘no no,’” said Carello.

Carello recalled early day as teenagers, goofing off before practice. He said that Hernandez is a leader, a friend, and someone who always kept him on track.

“I have no place to say what he did and didn’t do, that is what court is for,” said Carello. “It’s sad to see him go through that; it’s sad to see the family go through it.”

Hernandez was charged with murder and released from the New England Patriots.

Many people in Bristol said Hernandez was the pride of the city.
