The Capitol Report panel discusses the fact that Jerry Labriola was elected again to lead the state Republican Party, and what the race will look like in Connecticut’s 5th Congressional District in 2014.

Below is Daniela Altimari’s story about Labriola’s reelection from the Hartford Courant. Read more at courant.com.

State Republican Chairman Jerry Labriola Jr. handily won re-election Tuesday night in a vote of the party’s state central committee, turning back a spirited challenge from tea party activist.

Labriola captured 62.5 votes; his lone opponent, Ron Wilcox, received 17.5. (The state central committee weights votes based on population.)

State Rep. Themis Klarides was reelected as vice-chairman.

“I’m confident we will come out of this room tonight more united as a party than we were coming in,” Labriola said as he stood outside the dining room of Nuchie’s restaurant in the Forestville section of Bristol.
