The most important thing is to buy a broad spectrum sunscreen that blocks both types of ultraviolet rays, UVA and UVB. Both types of rays can cause sun damage, White says.
In addition to sunscreen, clothes, a hat and sunglasses with ultraviolet protection are also important things to consider. If you do get a sunburn, take a cool shower or bath and apply moisturizer to make it less painful. You can also take ibuprofen or acetaminophen.
