The Hartford Courant and FOX CT, in partnership with Premier Limousine, will offer Connecticut residents “sober rides” on Friday and Saturday nights during the 2013 graduation season and during the Fourth of July holiday.
The “sober rides” program will provide free and confidential transportation to adults over the age of 21 who might find themselves in unsafe situations when trying to get home at the end of the night. This may include situations when friends have been drinking and should not be driving.
Rich Graziano, president, publisher and CEO of the Hartford Courant and general manager of FOX CT and WCCT-TV, believes the initiative can have a large impact on Connecticut.
“If this program can help save one life, it will be worth it,” he said. “DUIs have accounted for 504 fatalities in Connecticut over the last five years.”
