The month of June finished with nearly 11 inches of rain, making it the second wettest June in history.
Many outdoor plans had to be changed thanks to this soggy weather. But on the Housatonic River, this record rainfall has produced epic conditions for a group of White water kayakers.
Photojournalist Freddie Matthis recently caught up with the paddlers as they caught their breath in between runs to find out why these conditions are rare but just right.
