After nearly a month of heat and humidity, it will begin to feel more comfortable this morning with dew point temperatures in the 50s to near 60 across most of the state.

Cool high pressure to the north is supplying the NNE wind today, so temperatures will stay in the 70s to near or over 80 (if enough sunshine can peak through the clouds).

Low pressure across the Washington D.C. and Baltimore areas will slowly move northeast and dissipate. As it dissipates, we may experience a few showers later tonight.

High pressure will merge with the big sub-tropical high, bringing the state its fourth heat wave starting Sunday and continuing into the week. This heat wave will be different, however, because temperatures will reach the mid-90s with dew point temperatures in the 60s, making it feel less humid. The high pressure will shift north and west, and the combination of a northwest down slope wind and sinking air will  keep the atmosphere more stable, which will prevent big thunderstorms from developing next week.

Forecast details:

Today: Mostly cloudy, cooler and less humid. High: 75-80. Wind: NNE 5-15 mph. Sunset: 8:26 p.m.

Tonight: Cloudy with a few showers. Low: 60-65.

Tomorrow: A mix of sun and clouds, slight chance for a shower. High: 80s.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, hot and humid. High near 90.

Monday-Thursday: Mostly sunny, very hot, and moderately humid. High: 92-97 inland, a bit cooler along the beaches.
