HARTFORD – The Sandy Hook Advisory Commission will meet today at the state’s Legislative Office Building to continue the discussion on public safety and school security.

Since the end of the legislative session in June, new laws, including strict gun laws, were approved and now the Sandy Hook Advisory Commission will have a chance to review the new legislation.

The Sandy Hook Advisory Commission is a 16-member panel that was created by Governor Malloy. The panel is responsible for making recommendations related to school safety, mental health, and gun violence prevention.

The meeting Friday is the first since the legislative session ended in June. The panel will be joined by the President of the National School Safety and Security Services.

Today, the panel will focus on public safety and school security. Many of the members on the committee are parents of the twenty children killed during the Sandy Hook school shooting, some who have said they will not back off lawmakers to create more changes.

Today’s meeting starts at 10 a.m. at the Legislative Office Building.
