Less than two months after Alyssiah Wiley’s remains were found in Trumbull, her mother hasn’t moved on. She has moved forward.

In fact, Corrinna Martin has formed the nonprofit Move, Inc. (Mothers Of Victims For Equality) to help victims of domestic violence.

Saturday night, Move held its first fundraiser at Morningstar Church in New Haven.  Proceeds are intended to help fund among other things a new safe house for battered women and men.

Wiley is believed to have been a victim of domestic violence.  Police charged her boyfriend, Jermaine Richards, with her murder.

“Her life has encouraged me to say, OK, I can do this. I can show people what she was about and how she wanted to help, so I’ll pick up where she left off,” Martin said.
