NEWTOWN – Shortly before midnight Wednesday, Newtown firefighters responded to a fire in a barn at 3 Lake George Rd.
Fire officials say the barn, which was predominantly used for storage, was destroyed in the two-alarm blaze.
No one was injured in the fire, but fire crews had a hard time fighting the flames because of the hot weather and location. Fire officials said there were no fire hydrants in the area, so they used over 1,000 feet of hose to get water to the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
