WOODBRIDGE — A 14-month-old Yorkie-Chihuahua mix died Wednesday afternoon after it was left inside a car during 90-degree heat, police said.

It’s owner, 24-year-old owner Tiffany July-Lindo, left the dog in the car with the windows rolled up on Lunar Drive while she went to work at a local business, police said.

She returned an hour later around 4 p.m. and the dog was dead, police said.

She has been charged with one count of cruelty to animals and is scheduled to appear July 26 in Superior Court in New Haven.

people whose pets die as a result of abuse and neglect should face the same punishment as if they killed a person after all animals are living beings too this woman should never be allowed to have another pet serve a major amount of jail time and be put on an animal offenders list she might not have meant harm to befall this puppy but common sense would tell anyone not to leave an animal in a car on hot and humid days
