HARTFORD — The death of a 63-year-old Hartford man found in the Bushnell Park pond on Tuesday has been ruled an accident, police said.

Autopsy results determined that Ben Melendez drowned.

Melendez was found face down around 10:30 p.m. He was partially out of the water, according to Lt. Brian Foley, a police spokesman. The body was taken to Hartford Hospital, Foley said.

The pond is along the Jewell Street side of the park, near Trumbull Street.
