VERNON — The suspected getaway driver in a bank robbery at a People’s Bank in May was arrested Thursday.
James Costello, 37, of Ocean Township in New Jersey, was charged with second-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit second-degree robbery, third-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny.
He is in custody with bail set at $200,000 pending his arraignment Friday at Superior Court in Rockville.
Police had previously arrested Arthur Allyn, 32, in the May 25 robbery. The bank is located 35 Talcottville Rd.
Allyn allegedly handed a teller a note demanding money and left with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.
Investigators tracked the getaway vehicle in the robbery to Costello and Allyn, who both lived in Ocean Township New Jersey.
Allyn was extradited from New Jersey on July 17. Costello turned himself in to police on Thursday.
Another robbery at the same bank on June 21 remains under investigation. Police said they don’t believe the two robberies are connected.
