The 19 year old East Haven woman who federal prosecutors say made threats to carry out a mass shooting and bombing on the campus of Gateway Community College, heads back to court today for sentencing.

Amanda Bowden took a plea bargain on criminal charges of trespassing and mischief and harassment; she is still facing time behind bars and a hefty fine, though neither will be as severe as prosecutors were originally going for.

Bowden’s house was searched and the feds found no guns, no materials for bomb-making, but in text messages, feds say she talked about wanting to out-do the Sandy Hook School shooting.

Court documents indicate Bowden told the feds she was carrying on the conversations to win the approval of her friends, but she told them she never meant to cause any actual harm.

Bowden was not a student at Gateway, her connection to the college is unclear.

An undercover witness identified in court documents as “CW” was an integral part of the case against Bowden.
