U.S. Rep. Elizabeth Esty is facing criticism from some Democrats for her vote to delay implementation of a portion of the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.
The Democratic congresswoman is under fire from the liberal group MoveOn.org for her support earlier this month of a bill that would delay the requirement under the law that individuals purchase health insurance.
She was the only member of Connecticut’s House delegation to support the bill in a vote that was almost entirely along partisan lines.
“Based on the concerns I’m hearing from small business owners and folks on the ground in my district, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to allow folks an extra year to prepare and figure this out,” she said in a statement on the day of the vote.
