The Capitol Report panel discussess the state of the Republican Party in Connecticut and the race for mayor in New Haven.

Five candidates have stepped forward because the New Haven mayor’s chair is open for the first time in 20 years. The longtime incumbent, Democrat John DeStefano, is not seeking re-election. This year also marks a major turning point for New Haven, as the city’s school superintendent and the president of Yale University also both left their jobs after 20 years.

The candidates have been crisscrossing the city — outlining their positions in debates while acknowledging that Harp has the most support among Democratic insiders.
