You will certainly need an umbrella today as heavy rain and possible thunderstorms move through the state. Downpours can happen at any time of the day. Some of the storms could be strong and will need to be monitored. Although there is low instability in the atmosphere, the wind shear (wind direction turning with height) is just right. This means there is a possibility for low topped super cells if we can get some storms to develop.

A cold front tonight will help wash the moisture out of the air. Early morning clouds Saturday will break for sun with drier comfy air streaming in. Both days this weekend look perfect and most of next week looks dry and sunny.

Forecast at a glance:

Today: Very humid with periodic downpours and embedded thunderstorms. Some storms could be strong to severe. High: Near 80 degrees.

Saturday: Early clouds break for sunshine. Turning less humid and more comfortable as the day progresses. A bit warmer than recent days. High: Mid 80s.

Sunday: Sunny and dry with low humidity. Fantastic late summer weekend. High: Low 80s.

Monday: Sunny skies for most of the day. Clouds increasing late and at night. High: Low to mid 80s.

Tuesday: Increasing clouds with showers developing, mainly in the afternoon. Low to mid 80s.
