Southington Police Arrest Suspect In Head-On Collision

SOUTHINGTON — A 36-year-old man from Avon has been arrested in a head-on collision in May that seriously injured a driver.

David G. Fay, was charged on Friday with second-degree assault with a motor vehicle, driving while under the influence of alcohol and evading responsibility.

The crash occurred May 24 on in front of the fire department headquarters on North Main Street. Police say Fay lost control of his 2005 Honda Accord just before the collision with a 1994 Chevrolet Camaro.

The driver of the Camaro, Ellen Tomczak of Southington, was treated at an area hospital for serious physical injuries. She is still recovering, police said.

Fay fled the scene on foot, but returned more than an hour later. He was also treated at an area hospital.
