Celebrating Connecticut’s great outdoors, one day at a time.

A group of campers are doing just that by bicycling, hiking, and canoeing over 11 days.

The Department Of Energy And Environment Protection organized the expedition, called Sojourn 2013, or Summer Outdoor Journey.

It commemorates 100 years of Connecticut state parks, with a 169 mile trip which makes stops in 20 state parks.

Campers can come and go, but a core of 19 plans to do the whole trip.  Journey organizer, Diane Joy, who is also the Assistant Director of State Parks said she’s camped before, but never quite as long.

“We have solar showers for those places where we don’t showers,” Joy laughed.

The journey ends at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport a week from Sunday.
