BRISTOL — A child and his mother sustained minor injuries after they were struck by a vehicle Saturday night on Gridley Street, police said.

Officers responded to Gridley Street near Cottage Street around 5:30 p.m. after a 38-year-old mother and her five-year-old son were struck by a car driven by Ilona Bartnicki, 21, of Bristol.

Police said that the child ran out into the street between two parked cars and his mother was chasing him when they were struck.

Both were transported to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center and were treated for minor injuries, police said.

Police said no charges have been filed. The accident is still under investigation.
