Keep the summer going by having some fun in the trees!  The Adventure Park in Storrs, a unique aerial ropes park, just opened in early May and is already attracting enthusiastic crowds.

“It’s all composed of platforms in the trees of different heights, anywhere from 15 feet to 50 feet.  We divide those platforms up into five different courses from beginner to advanced,” says Anthony Wellman, of the Outdoor Ventures Group, which has opened several parks across the United States, including one in Bridgeport.  “The fun of it is figuring out how to get from one platform to the next.  Every bridge is a little different. Every park is a little different because every forest is a little different.”

Property owner Chris Kueffner partnered up with the group to inspire folks to get moving, out in nature.

“It’s definitely honoring the trees, and I think getting people out into them is a big part of that,” he says, pointing out the wedges that hold the course in place, no drills required.   “I love the woods.  I’ve always loved the woods.”

An interlocking carabiner system mixed with an instructional session keeps visitors safely attached to a line, as they navigate tunnel slides and cross tightropes.  This activity is intuitive and rewarding.

“A lot of people don’t go for walks in the forest anymore,” says Wellman.  But, at this park, you hike with the birds. For information about hours and pricing, click here to head to The Adventure Park’s website.
