Demolition crews will be back out in an East Haven neighborhood, clearing out the rest of the site where a plane crashed earlier this month.

Wednesday, an excavator tore down 64 Charter Oak Avenue.

The home was where Sade Brantley, 13, and her sister Madisyn Mitchell, 1, died when a private plane slammed into their house, as well as the one next door.

The pilot and his 17 year old son onboard also died.

Crews plan to dig out the home’s foundation which is still saturated with jet fuel.

“The contaminated material that is now in the basement at this point will be removed as contaminated waste and sent off to an approved facility,” Jeff Chandler, a member of the D.E.E.P. Emergency Response Unit, said.

The D.E.E.P. said the state is paying for the cleanup, which the state plans to re-coop from the pilot’s insurance company.
