NEW HAVEN – The city’s new Superintendent of Schools, Garth Harries, will be visiting schools across the city as students return to classes Wednesday morning.

At the East Rock School on Nash Street, more than 400 students will be getting their first glimpse of the newly renovated school which has 20 technology equipped classrooms, a state of the art science lab and library and special classrooms for special education students.

Stefan Pryor, the commissioner of the state Department of Education who was in New Haven Wednesday morning, said it’s an exciting time not just in the Elm City but across the state, as education reform initiatives that were passed by legislators over the past several years are beginning to come to fruition.
