STONINGTON — Police are investigating a domestic clash that left a husband and wife injured and their house aflame.

About 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, police received several 911 calls about a domestic disturbance between a husband and wife on Meadowbrook Lane in the Mystic section of Stonington, police said. When officers arrived, they discovered the wife outside with a cut, police stated in a press release.

They then saw that the house was on fire and witnessed the husband jumping out of a second-story window, they said.

Both were transported to an area hospital. Police didn’t elaborate on the extent of injuries. But neighbors said the woman’s neck was slashed and the man landed on his head when he jumped.

The house was seriously damaged in the fire, which has since been extinguished, fire officials said.

The state fire marshal’s office was called to assist with the investigation.

One neighbor said she saw the woman outside the house after the fight. She had a bloody slash mark on her neck and was holding a pair of scissors, she said.

She had seen the couple arguing earlier in the day while they were walking down the street, she said.
