Following the second fatal shooting in a month, the Up Or On The Rocks nightclub in Hartford had its cafe liquor license suspended by the city, according to online records.

There have been two slaying this summer outside the nightclub at 50 Union Place. Both fights started inside Up Or On The Rocks then continued outside after the club closed.

Club owners, after meeting with city officials last week, agreed to close until a security plan is in place. In the meantime, Police Chief James C. Rovella invoked a city ordinance requiring nuisance businesses and properties to hire a police detail, said police spokesman Lt. Brian Foley.
