PORTLAND — A man who had been kidnapped in Hartford at about 2 p.m. Thursday was found at the side of the road near the Connecticut River a hour later with a gunshot wound to the head, police said.
The victim, who police did not immediately identify late Thursday, survived the attack, said Portland police Lt. Ron Milardo. Police released no other details. The state police major crime squad was still collecting evidence Thursday night. Police were also investigating on Bond Street in Hartford, from where it was believed the man had been abducted.
The man was found by a passerby along the side of Riverside Street, a quiet part of town with three boatyards nearby.
