We will experience October-like weather for the next several days, as cooler air is on the way with near record cold temperatures by Friday morning.

A cold front has ushered in a cooler air mass for the rest of the week as temperatures will average a few degrees below normal. High pressure from central Canada will move across the northeast with plenty of sunshine through the rest of the week and weekend. High temperatures will average in the low 70s this afternoon and in the 60s to near 70 tomorrow afternoon. High pressure will slide off shore by Saturday, which will allow for some milder air to move back into the region.

Thus, temperatures will moderate into the upper 70s. There will be another cold front on Saturday night with a few showers, which will bring back the northwest wind and cooler temperatures for Sunday and Monday. Highs will stay in the low 70s under a blue, sunny skies.

By the middle of next week, a warm-up is on the horizon as temperatures could reach the low to mid-80s as summer weather continues in September.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Gabrielle is currently located near Puerto Rico with maximum sustaining winds of 40 mph, moving NW at 8 mph. The current forecast track takes the storm northwest, then north, and finally northeast and out sea in the open water, which does not pose a threat to the east coast. Tropical storms always bear watching, however, as we continue to move into the height of hurricane season.
