WATERTOWN — Complaints of sexual assault against a local man led to a search of his home Sunday that uncovered an extensive marijuana growing operation, along with narcotics and firearms, police said.

Police arrested Clayton Finnemore, 45, on numerous drug charges and two counts of first-degree sexual assault, among other charges.

The investigation began when two females reported being sexually assaulted inside Finnemore’s home at 27 Sylvan Lake Road in the Oakville section, police said. Investigators developed further information leading to execution of a search warrant, police said.

Inside the home, police found 29 mature marijuana plants and about 50 plants in the early stages of growth, police said. They also seized about 14 pounds of packaged marijuana and other narcotics prepared for sale, including methadone, oxycontin, roxicodone, suboxone and xanax, police said.

Officers also seized approximately $3,000 in cash and numerous firearms, including a handgun found under a pillow in Finnemore’s bed and another under his mattress, police said.

Finnemore was held on bail of $300,000 and is to be arraigned Monday in Waterbury Superior Court.
