DANBURY — A man who police say robbed an 85-year-old at gunpoint in an elderly housing complex was arrested after a 14-hour manhunt, police said.

Donny Jackson, 26, of Danbury was charged with three counts of first-degree burglary, two counts of sixth-degree larceny and one count each of home invasion, assault on an elderly person, first-degree robbery and criminal possession of a firearm.

His other charges include criminal mischief and risk of injury to a minor. Jackson also has warrants for his arrest from other states, police said.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the complex at 36 West Wooster St. early Saturday. They encountered the 85-year-old woman, who had injuries to her face and legs, they said.

Police learned that Jackson had broken into another apartment and found nobody home. He then broke into the victim’s apartment, pulling out a handgun, they said.

Alerted by the woman’s screams, neighbors knocked on her door. When Jackson answered, he was violently pulling the woman and had a gun in his hand, the neighbors told police.

He was taken into custody after a 14-hour search. The victim was treated at Danbury Hospital.

Jackson is in custody on $1 million dollar bail. His next court date is scheduled for Sept. 26 in Superior Court.
