NEW HAVEN – Democratic voters in the Elm City will have to pick from four candidates on Tuesday to replace longtime Mayor John DeStefano.
DeStefano is stepping down after 20 years as mayor, opening up the field to a number of candidates. State Sen. Toni Harp is the acknowledged frontrunner and party-endorsed candidate. Tuesday’s vote pits her against Henry Fernandez, New Haven’s former economic development administrator, city alderman Justin Elicker and Hillhouse High School principal Kermit Carolina.
Polls are open today from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Be sure to tune in to the Fox CT News at 10 for the results of the vote.
