Temperatures started off Tuesday in the 30s and 40s with the coolest air-mass of the early fall season settling over the state today and tonight with scattered frost in the normally colder sheltered valleys.

High pressure located across the Great Lakes and New York will deliver bright sunshine with crisp, cool temperatures today and scattered frost tonight. The high will slowly drift overhead tonight into tomorrow with a light wind and clear sky; this will allow good radiational cooling and frost may form on grassy surfaces and your vehicles early tomorrow morning.

The high will slowly drift offshore tomorrow afternoon that will allow a return flow into Connecticut and bring milder temperatures with highs in the 70s for the rest of the week. By Friday, I would not be too surprised to see 80 degrees.

The weekend looks OK. Saturday should be dry a mild with a mix of sun and clouds and continued mild temperatures with highs averaging in the 70s to near 80. A cold front will cross the region late Saturday night into early Sunday with a band of showers, followed by clearing by midday with a brisk northwest wind that will usher cooler air back into the region with highs holding in the low to mid 70s.

Early indications are that next week will be beautiful with sunny, mild days and clear, cool nights with highs in the 70s and lows in the 40s.
