A couple from Texas admitted that their two boys are a handful at times, but they say an Applebees restaurant in Katy, Texas, went too far. Halfway through their meal they were given the boot, then an earful by a sheriff’s deputy.
Mom and dad say everything seemed fine until their 3-year-old boy began wandering away from the table.
“I went and grabbed him. As I was grabbing him and coming back, the manager was walking to me, straight forward to me,” said Eli Gau, the father.
Gau said the manager told him that the children were making too much noise, then called the authorities and told the entire family to leave. When they came outside, they were confronted by a Harris County sheriff’s deputy. He gave them a notice warning them for criminal trespassing.
“Because of my children? This is going deeper than that,” Gau said. “I feel disrespect, because this has never happened in my life.”
Applebees bills itself as a family friendly restaurant. CNN reached out to the Applebees corporate office. A spokesperson profusely apologized for what happened and said the management team had mishandled the situation. The spokesperson invited the family to come back and have dinner on the house.
The family said no thanks.
