The Wallingford postal processing facility is one of two in the state that will close this year. Although Connecticut’s congressional delegation is trying to fight the future, there’s no indication this processing center will be spared.

In Washington D.C. on Thursday, the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee will hold a hearing in an effort to reform the postal service.  Some of the areas of discussion include reducing costs, increasing revenue, and incorporating modern technology.

The Postmaster General will be the first witness during the hearing. The committee will also hear from union leaders. New ideas could potentially be incorporated into a new piece of legislation.

The future of the Wallingford facility remains unknown. Check the website and watch Fox CT as more information becomes available.
