From mixed martial arts to tanning bans, starting Oct. 1, some new laws will go into effect in Connecticut.

Part of Connecticut’s new gun law will begin, requiring anyone who wants to buy ammunition to get a state-issued gun credential.

Also, mixed martial arts competitions will become legal in Connecticut. Minors can attend the matches with parental consent.

“It should open the doors up not only for the school owner but for the community at large and also for the fans of the sport,” said Darin Reisler, owner of Team Plus One Martial Arts in West Hartford.

And teens can say goodbye to tanning. On Tuesday, an all out ban on tanning for anyone under the age of 17 will begin.
