Tim Lammers fills you in on how the government shutdown will affect you individually. In addition to government workers that are being forced to stay home, there are some programs that will be affected, though essential services like Social Security and national security will continue to operate.

Some of the potential effects in Connecticut include:

Parks: Weir Farm National Historic Site in Wilton, Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge would close.

Defense: About 2,500 civilian workers in Connecticut would be furloughed.

Head Start: Could close, affecting an estimated 7,500 Connecticut children.

Bradley International Airport: Flights would continue.
