MIDDLETOWN — A Berlin man died after he lost control of his motorcycle on Route 9 and struck a stopped car, police said.

The accident happened shortly after 6 a.m. near the Arrigoni Bridge.

Mark Lemanski, 56, was riding south on Route 9 when he lost control of the motorcycle. He collided with a 2013 Toyota Prius that was stopped at the Hartford Avenue exit, or exit 16, waiting to turn left onto Route 9 north, police said.

Lemanski was transported to Middlesex Hospital, where he later died. Neither the driver of the Prius, Frank Mohr, 55, of Meriden nor his passenger was injured, they said.

Route 9 and Harford Ave were closed as police investigated, but have since re-opened.

Any witnesses to the crash are asked to call Officer Doug Clark at 860-638-4064.
