SIMSBURY — A major road is closed and a preschool is being evacuated because of a gas main break. No injuries have been reported.

Route 315, or Tariffville Road, is closed between Route 10 and Terry’s Plain Road, the state Department of Transportation reported in an emailed alert. It is expected to take up to six hours to clear the scene.

There are reports of 150 to 200 preschoolers boarding school buses, which will take them to a safe place.

The break happened some time after 11 a.m. in the area of Route 315 and St. Johns Place.

Both streets are near another major street, route 202/10, or Hopmeadow Street.
