Fairfield Police uncovered a stockpile of chemicals and weapons inside a million dollar mansion on Bronson Road. Investigators say the homeowner had more than 200 guns, improvised explosive devices, 250 gallons of jet fuel and thousands of rounds of ammunition.
“It’s difficult in any town, in any state, for anybody to be able to know with certainty what’s behind the walls of someone’s private home,” said Lt. James Perez.
A hazmat team was called in to secure the chemicals stored in the garage and house located at 1625 Bronson Road, “if those chemicals were left unchecked they could have been potentially devastating,” explained Lt. Perez.
“We don’t know the reasons why he did this. We don’t even know who he’s connected to.”
The home is owned by Joseph C. Callahan. Callahan underwent a mental health evaluation and police have secured a warrant for his arrest.
