NEW BRITAIN — An anonymous tip led to the arrest of a Bristol man on drug charges and the seizure of tens of thousands of dollars worth of cocaine, police said Wednesday.

Robert Desiderio, 19, of Blakeslee Street was arrested Monday after a motor vehicle stop, police said. He had 276 grams of cocaine, a small amount of marijuana and $4,951 in suspected drug money on him, they said.

A short time later, police served a search warrant at a garage at 145-147 Linwood St. in New Britain, where they found an additional 787 grams of cocaine.

In all, police confiscated a kilo — or 2.2 pounds — of cocaine valued at $40,000 to $100,000, police said.

Desiderio was charged with possession of narcotics and possessino with intent to sell, among other charges. His next court date is Oct. 21 in Superior Court.

The investigation stems in part from an anonymous caller’s message about drug trafficking in the neighborhood on the Community Tip Line, police said. The tip line’s number is 860-826-3199. Information also may be left at http://www.newbritainpolice.org.

The New Britain Police Department’s criminal investigation division and the New Britain Shoot Team conducted the investigation.
