Wednesday feels more like August with temperatures reaching the low 80s this afternoon under sunny skies. Expect warmer than normal temperatures through the middle of October with several upcoming chances for much-needed rain.

A warm pattern will yield some very nice summer-like weather during the next couple days as temperatures will reach the low 80s today and near 80 tomorrow. High pressure centered over South Carolina today will transport a warm, summer-like air mass followed by a weak cold front that will cross the area tonight with a wind shift back to northwest with a few clouds.

Temperatures will average a couple degrees cooler tomorrow into Friday with more beautiful weather as highs will average in the 70s with lows in the 40s and 50s, about 5 to 7 degrees above normal for this time of the year. A warm front will  slowly approach the region late Friday evening into the overnight hours with the chance for a few showers. The warm front will slowly move into central New England and stall this weekend. With the front nearby, expect clouds to hang around throughout the weekend, but it should stay dry with highs in the 70s.

By early next week, there will be some tropical moisture that could potentially move along a cold front with a slug of moderate to heavy rain. It’s still a bit too early to tell, but there are signs that much-needed rain could be in our forecast by Monday and Tuesday. The extended long-range forecast calls for warmer than normal temperatures with highs staying in the 70s and lows in the 40s and 50s through the middle of October.
