STAMFORD— A 12-year-old girl was charged with disorderly conduct on Tuesday for repeatedly bullying another student at the private middle school they both attended, police said.

Police did not name either student, or the school, but said school administrators worked closely with police on the investigation, which began in September when the victim’s parents contacted police and said another student had repeatedly bullied their 13-year-old daughter at school.

When the bullying worsened and the victim made comments about committing suicide, police immediately got involved, a police press release states.

The officer heading the investigation determined that the victim’s complaints were valid and that it was best to arrest the 12-year-old to “quell this activity,” according to the release.

The girl was released to the custody of her parents, police said.

“This behavior will not be tolerated by Stamford Police Department,” the release states. “If it is brought to our attention we will vigorously investigate the allegations and make arrests when appropriate.”
