A few scattered showers are possible today, however, the best chance for widespread showers will be during the overnight hours. Expect lots of clouds, but a mostly dry weekend with above normal temperatures. Then soaking rain is possible late on Monday night.

The Fox CT Weather Team will be keeping an eye on Tropical Storm Karen in the Gulf of Mexico this weekend, as it could make it’s way toward Connecticut by Tuesday.

Yesterday was another beautiful, mild day with a high of 78 degrees at Bradley International Airport, under partly to mostly sunny skies. Today will feature more clouds, as a warm front will slowly move in our direction, with the chance for a few scattered showers this afternoon. Most of the shower activity will be scattered and light, with the most significant rainfall slated for central and northern New England.

There’s a slight chance that moderate showers could move into Connecticut overnight. Weak high pressure may develop off the New England coast this weekend, allowing for some intervals of sunshine. Temperatures will average 5-10 degrees above normal throughout the weekend, despite the clouds, due to a warm pattern across the east coast.

A cold front will approach Connecticut Monday night, with a band of moderate rain showers that could deliver upwards of a half inch of precipitation.

Currently, Tropical Storm Karen has maximum sustained winds of 60 mph. It is located in the eastern Gulf of Mexico as it continues to slowly move northwest at 10 mph. As a result, it should make landfall along the Gulf Coast by early Monday morning. The system will slowly move northeast toward the mid-Atlantic coast by Tuesday, latch on to the cold front and just miss Connecticut, with heavy rain and wind. It will be a close call, so this storm does bear watching throughout the weekend.

Stay tuned to the Fox CT Weather Team for updates.
