Police: Glastonbury Teens Found In Vehicle Full Of Pot Smoke

Police said they found the boys, all Glastonbury High School students, parked at the end of the western portion of Country Club Road around 6 p.m. When they opened the door of the 2014 Ford Escape, marijuana smoke poured out, police said.

Police seized 14 grams — about a half-ounce — of marijuana, three bottles of rum, 22 cans of beer and five glass smoking devices.

The boys were between 13 and 17 years old. Each faces charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcohol by a minor. The 13-year-old will get a juvenile referral and was not arrested at the scene, police said. Each of the boys was released to a parent.

The Glastonbury Police Department’s Youth Division has been using federal grant money for years to run underage party patrols with plainclothes officers and unmarked cars, said Agent James Kennedy.

Police follow party rumors on social media websites including Facebook and Twitter, and they target areas known for underage partying, Kennedy said. Five officers are involved in the youth division, he said.
