Darien Freshman Football Coach Charged With DUI, Assaulting An Officer

NORWALK— A Darien high school freshman football coach was arrested in Norwalk early Thursday morning after allegedly driving while intoxicated and fighting against police.

Christian Garnett, a Stamford resident, was stopped by police on Connecticut Avenue at 12:41 a.m. Police said Garnett was driving at a high rate of speed on three tires and one rim.

The officers asked Garnett to exit the car and perform field sobriety tests, which he failed, according to police.

When the officers attempted to place him under arrest, Garnett struggled violently with them, police said.

Garnett was charged with driving while under the influence, assault on an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia and interfering with an officer, police said.
