Barbara Foley started the Ron Foley Foundation in 2010 in memory of her late husband who died from pancreatic cancer in 2005. The organization, which raises money for pancreatic cancer research and education, has scheduled a Zombie Chase 5K fundraiser for Nov. 3 at the West Hartford Reservoir.

November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month. According to the American Cancer Society, pancreatic cancer is the fourth-leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. Over the past decade, pancreatic cancer death rates have been slowly increasing among U.S. men and women, in contrast to the downward trend in rates for most other major cancer types.
