Surrounded by Vietnam era veterans, Governor Dannel Malloy signed new bills into law Monday morning.

One was a gesture of gratitude for lives interrupted by the Vietnam draft, “were now in the process of granting honorary high school diplomas to those individuals who left high school in order to serve in the military,” Governor Malloy announced.

The second measure signed by Malloy benefits veterans of all wars.

“We want to make it much easier for municipalities to give much larger tax reductions to veterans who are disabled, 100% disabled,” Malloy said.

The ceremony took place at the Port Five Naval Veterans Club in Bridgeport.
