MANSFIELD — A handgun was stolen from an unlocked parked vehicle at Mansfield Middle School on Saturday, police said.
The owner of the gun was not a staff member or a student, said State Police Master Sgt. Donna Tadiello.
Police do not yet have a suspect in the theft, but they are investigating whether the gun is legally owned, whether the owner has a permit and whether having the gun on school grounds was a violation of the law, Tadiello said.
The theft took place in the late morning on Saturday.
Anyone with information can call the state police at 860-429-6024.
