Power Outage Cancels Some Classes At UConn

STORRS — The University of Connecticut is cancelling some classes after a power outage on the school’s main campus early Tuesday.

Classes in the chemistry, pharmacy and bio-physics buildings are cancelled today, according to the university’s website. Classes starting prior to 10 a.m. in the Engineering I building are also cancelled.

Around 2:30 a.m., the university sent out an alert to all students and staff alerting them of a power outage on the school’s main campus. According to university officials, several portions of campus were affected by the outage.

About an hour later, UConn officials confirmed that power had been restored to residence halls and dining areas, but still without power at 6:45 a.m. were:

•Admissions
•Engineering I
•Chemistry Building
•Pharmacy Building
•Bio-Physics Building
•Field House
•Burton Football Complex
•North Parking Garage
•Foundations Building

Crews are working to restore power and all other classes will proceed as scheduled.
