Man Killed In Watertown Crash

WATERTOWN— A 54-year-old man was killed in a one-car crash on Cutler Street Friday night, according to police.

Officers responded at approximately 7:19 p.m. and found a Jeep Cherokee driven by John F. Pillis, of Watertown, had struck a utility pole in the area of 101 Cutler St.

The vehicle sustained heavy damage to the front end, police said.

Pillis was taken to Waterbury Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The Central Naugatuck Valley Regional Accident Investigation Team was called to the scene to begin a reconstruction of the accident, police said.
